Project Overview

Crystal Leisure Swimming Pools was commissioned to design and build a purpose-built children’s splash park, creating a fun, interactive water play environment with specialist engineering and water treatment systems behind the scenes.

From the initial design drawings through to the installation of the play features and commissioning of the pool systems, our team managed the key stages of construction to deliver a dedicated splash pool designed around the client’s requirements.

The project combined robust pool construction, child-friendly water play features and commercial-grade plant equipment to create a splash park suitable for a busy leisure environment.

01

Design & Planning

Every successful pool project starts with careful planning.

We began by measuring the proposed pool area and producing detailed drawings for the client’s review and approval. This allowed the layout, pool dimensions and positioning of the water play features to be planned before construction began.

With the design approved, work moved on to the construction of the pool structure and installation of the supporting infrastructure.

02

Pool Construction & Insulation

The splash pool was constructed using concrete and blockwork to create the required shape and structure.

Insulation was installed as part of the pool build, followed by a reinforced concrete layer incorporating steel reinforcement mesh to provide a robust base.

The pool was designed with a shallow water depth of approximately 0.5 metres, in keeping with the client’s brief for a children’s splash park.

The pool interior and surrounding area were then finished with non-slip safety tiles, providing a practical surface suited to a water play environment.

03

Pipework & Dedicated Plant Room

Reliable water circulation and treatment are essential to the operation of a commercial splash park.

We installed dedicated pipework connecting the splash pool to a new plant room designed specifically for this installation. All pipework was pressure tested to check the integrity of the system before progressing through the installation process.

The dedicated plant room was fitted with commercial-grade equipment, including:

  • Commercial filtration equipment
  • Dedicated pumps for the interactive water features
  • Automatic chemical dosing units
  • Chemical day tanks

This system was designed to support effective water circulation, filtration and chemical treatment, helping maintain water quality during operation.

04

UV Water Disinfection

As an additional water treatment measure, we installed a UV disinfection system.

Ultraviolet treatment provides an additional stage of water disinfection alongside the pool’s filtration and chemical treatment systems. Working as part of the overall treatment process, it supports the management of water quality and hygiene.

Combining appropriate filtration, automatic dosing and UV treatment helps provide a comprehensive approach to splash pool water management.

05

Pool Heating Integration

To meet the client’s requirements, the splash pool heating was connected to the existing boiler heating system.

Integrating with the existing infrastructure provided the requested heating solution without requiring a separate standalone boiler installation for the pool.

06

Children’s Water Play Features

With the pool structure and supporting systems in place, the interactive play features were installed to complete the splash park.

The finished installation incorporates colourful, themed water play equipment, including a crocodile slide, turtle feature, water cannon, fountains and a central ship-themed structure.

These features create an engaging environment for younger visitors, bringing together water play, movement and imaginative play within a dedicated shallow splash pool.

The Finished Project

The completed splash park brings together bespoke pool construction, interactive water features and purpose-designed commercial plant equipment in one integrated installation.

Behind the colourful play features is a carefully planned technical system, incorporating dedicated circulation pipework, commercial filtration, automatic chemical dosing, UV disinfection and heating connected to the client’s existing boiler system.

The project demonstrates the range of expertise required to deliver a children’s splash park, from initial design and structural construction through to water treatment, equipment installation and finishing.
